Split Deck

Type: Close-up, Walk-around

Skill Level:

Retail Price: $9.99

Effect: Two spectators are usually recruited for presentation of this trick. A deck cut in half diagonally from corner to corner is shown to be otherwise normal...i.e all cards different. Spectator one is asked to select one card from one half of the face down deck. Spectator two is asked to do the same from the other half. Sure enough the two halves match...both halves are from one card.

Performance Time: About 2-5 minutes (or more, depending upon the routine)

Reset Time: None

Angles:

Quality: Most all versions of this trick are good quality. Decks are prepared from ordinary decks (but, don't try to make one yourself) so it depends on which back design you like. These cards are available in Fox Lake (Aviator), Bicycle and others.

Mike Maione: There's no doubt about it this is a trick deck...who carries a deck cut in half? So, you are not really trying to fool anyone into thinking you are using ordinary cards. But, you can have some fun with this one just the same. If you know how an Invisible Deck and Svengali Deck works then you know everything you need to know about the mechanics of this deck. It's easy to perform, we sell lots of them at the shop and I give it thumbs up, but I'm not wild for it. On the other hand it might just be me...a magician friend of mine who just discovered the Split Deck went bonkers for it.

Dr. Mitch: If you are creative you'll have a great time with this very easy to perform trick. This is one I like to do as a compatability test, if you have a couple seated at the table, you can show how compatable they are, by having them pick the same card. (I actually had one guy slip me a $20 bill to use this trick as an "introduction" for him to a pretty gal at the bar. I showed that they were "compatable" and he used it as an icebreaker to meet her)...ahh the MAGIC of Romance.
