The Sound Gizmo
Type: Close-up, Walk-around
Skill Level:
Retail Price: $25
Effect: This is a magic accessory. It is a small, (coin in photo gives you an idea) hand held, palmable voice recorder. It records a brief message and plays it back. The playback is loud enough to be heard in a small room.
Performance Time: depends on the routine....
Reset Time: none
Angles:
Quality: This is well made, small and concealable. It has a loud playback for it's size. It stores only one short message. To record a new message you must record over the old one.Dr. Mitch: I began to use this immediately upon recording my message. So, here was the first thing I did. The spectator "picks" a card. The card is "lost" into the deck. The spectator then "chooses" and tables three cards face down. The remainder of the deck is placed back in the case. Card #1 is turned over, and it is NOT their card. Card #2, likewise. The spectator is then asked if he thinks his card is on the table or in the case. No matter what he says he is asked to tap the case. As he does so, he hears it say.."You're card, the ____ of ____ is on the table, turn it over." He does so and there is his card. You hand him the case and the cards for examination (after palming off the gizmo).
This is a great device....Imagine doing "Needle through Balloon" and having the balloon say "OUCH". It is small, concealable and loud. I LIKE IT !
Mike Maione: Well now, the squeaker goes hi tech. That's basically what it is a modern version of the classic hand held sound maker. The only difference is you can record a message which the gizmo will repeat instead of just making a silly sound. But it's not for me....and I'm in love with electronic stuff. Even though there may be lots of cool ways to use this baby...Mitch has given you a couple....I'll pass. Here's why. It's loud by most standards for a device this small, but not loud enough for most walk-around work....especially if you palm it. Your hand becomes an effective sound baffle and deadens the sound. If you do close-up effects in quite places....then try it you might enjoy it. My venues are way too noisy for this device.
