Passe Passe Bottles

Type: parlor, stage

Skill Level:

Retail Price: $60

Effect: Two tubes are shown, one is placed over a bottle, while the other is placed over a glass tumbler. At the magicians' command, the bottle and the tumbler exchange places. This can be repeated as often as the magician pleases throughout the routine. At the finish the tubes are shown empty.

Performance Time: two to seven minutes depending on your routine

Reset Time: 30 seconds

Angles:

Quality: Most are well made, however the bottles used look very old fashioned and somewhat prop-like rather than looking like real bottles.

Dr. Mitch: To me this trick really goes nowhere. It is a nice bit of business with no real punch to it (really lacking a strong climax). Having toyed briefly with it, I cast it aside without ever looking back.

Mike Maione: I'm only luke warm on this one. It's been around forever and lacks pizazz especially by today's standards. It uses wine bottles which limits its presentation to mature audiences who aren't fooled by it. A new, funny presentation might make it worth dusting off and using in your show, but mine has is still in the box after a year. Get today's version a great kid show trick called Peanut Butter & Jelly. It's much more fun, you can use it in your family show and it has a great finish.
