Multiplying Billiard Balls

Retail Price: $3-$40
Effect: The magician holds a ball between his thumb and index finger. With a wave of his hand another ball appears between his index and middle finger. The balls are repositioned and the two balls are shown between the out stretched fingers. Again the hand is waved and a third ball appears. The process is repeated and a fourth ball appears, completely filling the magician's hand.
Performance Time: About 1 minute
Reset Time: None
Angles:
Quality: Some of these are poorly made plastic knock-offs, while others are beautiful hand carved wood. Unique versions of this product include, multiplying golf balls, sponge balls, super balls, etc. etc. Vernet makes a beautiful set in Silver (plastic) with little projections all around the ball to make them easier to hold on to, they are beautiful to see and to handle. Don't order multiplying balls by mail you really need to see and handle the set that you intend to purchase.
Dr. Mitch: This is another one of those tricks that requires an immense amount of skill, practice and choreography to make it look smooth and magical. I have seen this trick performed beautifully, looking for all the world like real magic. And, I have also seen this trick performed horribly! If you want to perform this trick, take the time and practice it and make it look right. This is an effect that I personally love to watch, but would not buy.
Mike Maione: Boy, I wish I could do this trick. I just can't master holding balls between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers and doing the secret move without everything falling to the ground. (I can't do the Mr. Spock's Vulcan greeting either...I'll never make it as a Trekie.) Anyway, Dr. Mitch is right, this takes practice, practice and practice. Don't get them unless you have the time to practice and make sure to try them out in the store...they come in many sizes. Consider the sponge-type if you, like me, are a bit clumsy.
