Locked Deck

Manufacturer: Zanadu

Type: Close-up sitting, Walk-around, Parlor

Skill Level:

Retail Price: $20

Effect: A deck of cards with a hole punched through one corner is brought into play. Through the hole is a lock. The lock is removed and the spectator chooses a card. The spectator attaches the lock, locks it tight and then holds the keys himself. The spectator's card is made to disappear from the deck. The spectator himself may look through the deck to find the card. The card then reappears, hole and all, from a place of the magician's choosing.

Performance Time: About 2-5 minutes (or more, depending upon the amount of by-play)

Reset Time: Less than 30 seconds

Angles:

Quality: This is an well made product. As with any gimmicked deck of cards a little care will make these last a lifetime.

Dr. Mitch: In my opinion this easy to do trick has the potential to play REAL BIG. I hand the deck out for examination, but I control the spectator's action. The real key in this effect is the production of the card at the end. Be creative, it can come from anywhere. Just to give you some ideas, I have reproduced the card from my zipper, from beneath my hat, from a sealed envelope, and from my bar-maid's cleavage. I'd buy it.

Mike Maione: It takes brass ones to produce anything from a bar-maid's cleavage. I know I'd get slapped if I tried it. But, Mitch is right. The real fun is in the production of the card at the end. I like to use Tenyo's Card Case because the Tenyo case is so inspectable, it takes all heat off the deck. But, there are lots of other places to find the lost card. This is a neat deck.
