IT
Type: Close-up, Walk-around
Skill Level:
Retail Price: $10
Effect: It disappears, it reappears, it does whatever it likes! First, the cards appear to be blank, but when the spectator is asked to pick anything from the room and picture "it" in his mind, IT appears on one of the cards! It can be passed magically from card to card, first appearing on one, then another. Ask the spectator to clear his mind, and the cards are blank again! Next, ask him to picture something else, it doesn't matter what, it could be "this or that." Again reveal the cards, and there printed on the cards are THIS and THAT! This packet trick was created and written by Greg Wilson.
Performance Time: 2-3 minutes
Reset Time: About 30 seconds.
Angles:
Quality: The cards are attractive and durable on a laminated stock that is still flexible enough to use.Dr. Mitch: OK..here we go..I am going to try and proceed through this review without ANY puns. Oh, there...I did "IT". Oh, no...I said "IT". Arrrghhh..I can't stop "IT". I LOVE "IT". I thinks for anyone who does any type of walk around or table hopping or close up..."IT" is really a product that gives MAJOR BANG FOR THE BUCK. If you know a few basic ambitious card moves and can do a half way passable double lift, then you can do "IT" and really stretch this trick out until your audience starts groaning and rolling their eyes. You really need the right type of personality to make this trick HILARIOUS.
But if you use the bad puns and really play "IT" up...you'll see how much mileage you can truly get out of this trick. I had one group just join right in..laughing and making comments like.."Did you see "IT" ? " ..."I dunno..I think I felt "IT" ". I think that's the sign of a great trick, the audience just gets involved. When I saw "IT" I knew I had to have "IT" and now that I own "IT" there is no way I'd ever be without "IT". For those of you thinking of purchasing this....try "IT" you'll like "IT". Well, all I can say at this point is...I'm done, that's "IT" !!!!
Mike Maione: It's hard for me to believe Mitch and I are friends. We have such wildly different tastes. I hate "IT". It is probably one of the dumbest tricks I have ever seen. I don't know what Mitch is on....but maybe I should try some because straight I just don't get it. Yes, there is a little mystery in the trick....where did the "IT" the "THIS" and the "THAT" come from but, the story and patter are so lame it's disturbing. Regardless, this packet trick is a good seller. So some people will like it. (There's no accounting for taste.) I say do the world a favor and don't perform this trick. We already subject our audiences to enough bad humor....example....Magician: What's your name?
Spectator: Theresa.
Magician: Can I call you Terry?
Spectator: Yes.
Magician: Would tomorrow be too soon?I rest my case.
