Giant B'Wave

Type: Parlor, Stage

Skill Level:

Retail Price: $25

Effect: This is the classic Phil Goldstein, a.k.a. Max Maven, packet trick produced in stage size. The performer shows four giant blue backed cards. He tells the audience that they are four Kings and asks a spectator name one. The named King is shown to be the only one with a red back and the other three cards are show to be blank.

Performance Time: About 1 minute

Reset Time: less than 30 seconds

Angles:

Quality: Like most of the products manufacturer by Meir Yedid, the card are high quality and silk screened on heavy board. They should last many, many performances. There are other version of this trick available, at least one is printed on plastic (nice) but the index K, Q, J is not printed on the card, which looks a little hookey. Also Meir makes the trick in Kings, Jacks and Queens.

Dr. Mitch: This is the only packet trick that contradicts my old philosophy 'that no packet trick that can make the conversion to stage.' Even on stage this is a great trick...but I still like it close-up better.

Mike Maione: I like this trick and think its even better big then close-up. Here's why: Surprise, surprise one of the cards is gaffed. Did you ever hear anyone shout out in a theater, "Hey let me see those cards?" Neither have I...well, one time, but let's not get into that right now. Truth is, it usually never happens. Close-up that's another story... it happens and you simply can't allow these cards to be inspected. So I like it better on stage. It easy to perform and very strong.

This is a great trick to do if you MC. It's short, entertaining and very mystifying. If you can do an Elmsley with jumbos, it's even better. I love to have the three Kings which the spectator did not name (in regular size) planted in an envelope somewhere in the audience. It really adds to the effect.
