Confusing Crayons
Type: Stage, Parlor
Skill Level:
Retail Price: $35
Effect: The magician holds a red crayon covered by a cardboard tube. An assistant or spectator holds a yellow crayon covered by a second tube. The tubes are turned over... once, twice, three times. On raising the covers the magician's crayon is pointed side up and the spectator's crayon is pointed side down. This is repeated as often as desired, much to the annoyance of the volunteer and the amusement of the audience. Finally, the magician and the spectator trade crayons. Of course, the effect is the same.
Performance Time: 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending upon your routine and how long you want to milk it.
Reset Time: None
Angles:
Quality: The tubes are cardboard mailing tubes and the crayon a plastic and cardboard. After a while, they'll show wear, but at least they are lighter than the glass and metal topsy turvy (Tricky) bottles you're used to.Mike Maione: This is a great prop. I bought one as soon as I saw it and predict it will be a huge seller. Here's what it has going for it. First, unlike the trick it is modeled after there is no bottle to drop and break. Second, you can use it in your kid show. The giant crayons are big, bright and very colorful. Third, you can switch crayons with the spectator to make it even more puzzling then the bottle version.
Drawbacks? Sure... like Tricky Bottles, it has no ending. If you figure one out write us.
